CHARACTER INFO
ARMADA SELECTION
Character: Theseus
Canon: Hades, post epilogue
Age: Adult and then some
Background Information: Tada.
Personality:
1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
Theseus's defining trait is his incredibly huge ego. He takes enormous pride in being a king in life, a hero in legend, and Hades's champion in the underworld, and he will never ever let anyone forget about it. Some people might get tired of talking themselves up all the time, but not Theseus. He will not spare the smallest effort to let everyone know that Theseus is great, and greater than you.
Theseus always acts in a way that commands attention, from his very verbose way of speaking, to his preference toward dramatic monologues. He manages to put a theatric spin to everything, which comes into play when he is putting on a show for a crowd such as the Elysium Arena's. During his boss fight with Zagreus he directly addresses the audience, thanking his fans, shooting confetti into the stands with cannons, and showing off his flashy special moves, all of which are named.
2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
Glory, if Theseus was allowed to put it in his own words. The more accurate wording would probably be love. More specifically, Theseus wants to be broadly adored and admired as a hero, king, and winner. Gods have mercy on whoever gets in the way.
3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
Ironically, Theseus is very insecure, when he does feel threatened in position he reacts quickly and extremely poorly. He is an INTENSELY sore loser, and will hold a grudge against anyone who makes him look bad at length (as demonstrated by the deep hatred he develops for the main character Zagreus, who will end up beating him dozens of times to finish the game.) He seems especially irate at the idea of being replaced, as Asterius's partner, as Champion of Elysium, or as the best of anything.
This goes hand in hand with his jealousy issues. He resents heroes who are more famous and popular than him (like Heracles), and comparing his fame and accomplishments to others is an instant way of hitting a nerve. Relatedly he also has a possessive streak toward things which he is most fond of, such as Asterius's attention, which he is far too touchy about to humor competing in. Otherwise Theseus is very competitive, especially in fighting. Theseus takes fighting very seriously, possibly because it's inherently tied to what he originally became famous for. Theseus actually seems to communicate through battle better and more earnestly than with words, and strong fighters such as Asterius or Achilles are among the few to earn outright respect and admiration from him.
Underneath the petty vindictiveness and deep-seated rage Theseus does have a conscience, but unfortunately he is also great at compartmentalization. Unsurprisingly for someone with his ego, Theseus has a difficult time blaming himself. He is greatly upset, and then angry, when reminded of Princess Ariadne, because he is the one who betrayed her in life and her mention brings up the uncomfortable idea of apologizing for something. While the ability to shift blame and rationalize makes Theseus capable of being quite callous (like how it is implied he used Ariadne in the past), most of the time he really is just that obliviously self-centered instead of deliberately manipulative. Ultimately Theseus wants to be loved, not feared, and naked pragmatism is not good for that.
4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
Theseus has zero sense of good taste. A man like him could never look bad in something, after all.
Abilities & Inventory:
Theseus fights with a good old fashioned shield and spear combo. Canon also mentions his proficiency with hand to hand combat and, bewilderingly, firearms. Theseus can stab or swing with his spear at melee range, or use it as a long range weapon by throwing it. He can follow up the spear throw with either a dash attack toward its landing site or by instantly recalling the spear to his hand.
In game, Theseus can call for divine aid from the Olympian Pantheon, summoning spears of light that erupt from the ground and gaining various powers that parallel the abilities the player character Zagreus can obtain. Theseus also does not feel mortal bodily needs like hunger or thirst and cannot be permanently killed, due to already being deceased and a Shade of Hades. In Escordvi however, I would like to play him as essentially alive and without godly powers (since those don't belong to him, so to speak.)

ARMADA SELECTION
Paladin - Theseus very much self-identifies as a hero of justice and would align himself with whichever side he sees as the righteous law of the land. He has no compunctions about serving the will of the gods or his undead duty to Lord Hades, even as his fellow retainers of the God of the Underworld start to have their doubts about Zagreus' supposedly evil nature. This makes him, perhaps unexpectedly, one of the most loyal and least rebellious characters in the game.

A Night to Regret
Don't You Dare Die on Me
Medieval Fantasy AU
Your Princess is in Another Castle
Worthy Rivals
Fairy Tale Curse
Technically shippy but aiming for a more comedic/bickering sort of angle. [Character] and Theseus share a one night stand in a moment of bad judgement for the former and Theseus will never let them live it down.
Don't You Dare Die on Me
Things go wrong on the battlefield and either [Character] or Theseus ends up looking very rough; the other does not take it very well. If Theseus is the uninjured character he will probably take a "I am your king, and I order you to not die!" approach.
Medieval Fantasy AU
Theseus AU'd as a noble in either a generic feudal setting or a specific canon such as Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy 14.
Your Princess is in Another Castle
Theseus, either as a king or a young prince, gets abducted and [Character] is on a quest to rescue him, either for a reward or glory.
Worthy Rivals
Theseus admires and respects [Character] for their fighting prowess, and seeks to test himself against them.
Fairy Tale Curse
Theseus falls under an undesirable magical compulsion, such as transforming into a monster on the full moon or being cursed to fall in love with a stranger. [Character] finds him befoul of it or attempting to break the curse.

Your Hero. Will be way too enthusiastic about this save the world thing. Has a deserved reputation as a blowhard but can be genuinely honorable sometimes??
Canon: Hades
Character Age: Potentially very old
Breed(s) of Interest: Boring human probably
Height: Headcanon height is 6'1", I used to headcanon him shorter but got bullied into making him taller.
Rarity: In a hypothetical Supergiant gacha Theseus would be a 3 or 4 star honestly.

Disposition:
Proud: The one trait that is overwhelming to who Theseus is, above everything else. He holds immense pride in being a king, a hero, and a warrior, something that is immediately clear to anyone who spends any amount of time around him. Theseus thinks the most of his abilities, whether it be fighting, leadership, or anything else. He also thinks highly of himself and his importance, as Champion of Elysium or because of his status as a famous legendary hero. He is incredibly happy to show any of this off, with zero subtlety or tastefulness to his bragging. It is telling that Theseus is most at home in the Elysium Arena, where he fights in front of an audience that is filled with his own fans who cheer him on.
Dramatic: Theseus always acts in a way that commands attention, from his very verbose way of speaking, to his preference toward dramatic monologues.
Petty: It is easy to end up on Theseus's shitlist for questionable reasons. He is prone to getting jealous, particularly toward those more popular and famous than him. Heracles is apparently a hot button issue around him. Theseus is also an incredibly sore loser, and will hold a grudge to anyone who makes him look bad (as demonstrated by the deep hatred he develops for the main character Zagreus, who will end up beating him dozens of times to finish the game.)
Needy: It's not enough for the people to love him, they have to love him. Theseus is surprisingly insecure despite everything else. When he does feel threatened, he tends to react by overcompensating to prove himself and lashing out at the cause.
He is also rather sensitive about his friendship with Asterius, one of the very few, possibly only, genuine mutual relationships Theseus has. The possibility of being replaced in Asterius's eyes, or someone else getting more of his attention, is a point of insecurity and can immediately put him in a sour mood, though never at Asterius.
Stubborn: When Theseus is set on something, he shows unbeatable determination, as his pride will never have him give up. Relatedly, it is extremely rare for him change his mind or opinion once he has made it. Predictably for someone with his ego, Theseus has a difficult time accepting that he's been wrong and will deny so whenever he can. The only one who can get him to even think about apologizing is Asterius, who he will actually listen to and avoid offending. Even then, there are limits to what he can do to change the course of the prideful King of Athens.
Suitability: Theseus would view a newly presented challenge with full confidence and self-assuredness. He would actually be very receptive to the idea of a whole planet and god in need, and would not find it too different from the usual business of being a hero serving the will of the gods. On its face it's merely another great and mighty accomplishment to mark down under his name.
Being just one gembonded out of many will sting a lot more, but Theseus managed to stick out as a hero in one life, he'll do it again.
Condition upon arrival: Although he technically spends his entire canon dead as a Shade, I would like for Theseus to be brought back to life in Noctium. As detailed under Abilities the only practical differences will be having bodily needs and the "ability" to die again.
Abilities:
Theseus fights with a good old fashioned shield and spear combo. Canon also mentions his proficiency with hand to hand combat and, bewilderingly, firearms. Theseus can stab or swing with his spear at melee range, or use it as a long range weapon by throwing it. He can follow up the spear throw with either a dash attack toward its landing site or by instantly recalling the spear to his hand.
As a hero who has earned recognition from the gods of Olympus, Theseus can call for their aid in battle. The attack always comes in the form of spears of light erupting from the ground, and an additional effect based on the specific god. They parallel the abilities the player character Zagreus can have:
- Aphrodite: Applies an attack down debuff on enemies.
- Ares: Causes damage over time.
- Artemis: Chance to deal critical hits.
- Athena: Gives Theseus a temporary shield from all damage.
- Demeter: Freezes and slows down enemies.
- Dionysus: Inflicts a poison debuff.
- Poseidon: Blows back enemies away from Theseus on hit.
- Zeus: Gives additional lightning attacks.
Like all the other mortal characters who show up in Hades, Theseus is dead and a Shade of the underworld. Shades don't sleep, eat, or drink, unless they feel like it! They don't have bodily functions like breathing or sweating, except for when they feel like it! While they can die and be killed, because they are already in the right place so to speak, they just come back somewhere else in Hades.

Notes:
The Zagreus player who is already in game has decided to play him without the god boons, so Theseus will not be keeping his god powers either! Because their powers are derived from the Olympian gods, it would make sense for him to not have them unless one of the gods shows up in Noctium.

PERSONALITY
Legendary Warrior King of Athens, Theseus is a notorious showoff whose arrogance is completely unimpeded by the concepts of shame, taste, or common sense. Ironically he is not-so-secretly desperate for love and attention, and becomes very anxious about losing both or being outdone.APPEARANCE/FASHION
Theseus looks like a man in the prime of his life (presumably one of the perks of being a Shade; in actuality he died in his fifties) with dark tan skin, blond hair, and blue eyes. Like all the Elysium characters he's never seen without a crown of ghostly blue laurel leaves. He has the physique of a Greek god (figurative not literal) and no modesty in showing it. Every day is titties out day for Theseus. (As a consequence of an ill-considered night in Marilla he has piercings to go with them.) Even if he cannot find literal ancient Grecian clothing in Noctium he tends to prefer flowing outfits with open collars and no sleeves. While transformed into a Peri, Theseus has pure white feathery wings on his back and a smaller mostly decorative pair in his hair.
